ANTIGUA, West Indies (MARCH 11, 2010) – With only sixty brilliantly designed guest rooms and a commitment to excellence , Sugar Ridge has quickly become Antigua’s go-to retreat for chic travelers the world over. This month, the boutique property celebrates the grand opening of a new level of indulgence for its guests: an on-site Aveda™ Concept Spa. Recognized as a global leader in sustainability, the incorporation of Aveda™ into the grand design of Sugar Ridge is as natural as the pure ingredients used in their superb treatments.

The 6,000-square-foot spa occupies the entire ground floor of the Sugar Club, at the heart of Sugar Ridge. Its décor echoes the earth-toned palette that winds through the resort, combining creams and warm beiges with dark wood. Sleek and modern, the spa features four treatment rooms—one of which are for couples—and only the latest and most stylish salon equipment. High ceilings create an airy open space, where specially trained personnel are on-hand to offer facial and body treatments, hair services, manicures and pedicures.
The guest experience begins with a consultation, whether for a beauty or spa treatment. The latter are designed individually, based on the Aveda™ Element Nature customization philosophy. Visitors can then choose from a full menu of services such as the Fusion Stone Massage, which incorporates warm river stones to relax the muscles and stimulate the circulation, or the Chakra Balancing Massage, focusing on deep tissue massage, foot reflexology and energy work. Guests can also enjoy a selection of Aveda™ herbal teas before or after a treatment.
An air-conditioned gym is adjacent to the spa, featuring cutting-edge Cybex fitness equipment, including 24 fitness machines plus 13 for cardiovascular health. Next-door is an air-conditioned studio for aerobics, Pilates and yoga classes. Sugar Club also boasts two swimming pools: an 82-foot long lap pool and a 44-foot pool complete sun bathing areas.
The full service Aveda™ Concept Spa is open from 9:00 a.m. daily, except for Sunday. Last appointments are taken at 7:00 p.m. The Gym is open 6.00 a.m. to 9.00pm daily.
