Subject Whistler Hosts 15th Annual TELUS World Ski and Snowboard Festival, April 16 - 25
Date Posted: Feb 08, 2010
Long before Whistler readied to host the alpine skiing, sliding and nordic events at the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, the mountain resort’s reputation as a hub of snow sport action was cemented by the annual TELUS World Ski and Snowboard Festival. Indeed, while winter resorts throughout North America begin to wind down, Whistler Blackcomb ramps up for spring by throwing a rousing 10-day sports, arts and music extravaganza. And given the record amounts of snowfall that continue to fall this season, there’s good reason to celebrate. First time on the slopes? There’s no better opportunity to learn to ski or snowboard than in the soft, forgiving conditions that prevail in spring. Add a celebration of all things musically and artistically related to life in the white world, and you’ve got it made. Skiing and riding on the slopes continues through the end of May, followed by a month of action on Blackcomb’s Horstman Glacier in July. Better pack extra sunscreen. www.whistlerblackcomb.com; www.wssf.com
